First Nations Jobs is assisting a well‑established Australian engineering and manufacturing business in Ingleburn with a permanent, full‑time Mechanical Design Engineer role.

The role owns complex crane and materials‑handling system designs from concept through fabrication, collaborating with engineers, drafters and manufacturing teams.

Requirements include degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic, 5+ years crane design, 3D CAD (Inventor/AutoCAD), AS 1418 knowledge, and strong calculation skills.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic or a closely related engineering discipline.
• At least five years of direct, hands‑on overhead‑crane design experience.
• Experience personally designing complete cranes or substantial crane components and systems.
• An understanding of both the crane itself and its runway or supporting structure.
• Strong knowledge of 3D CAD and drafting software such as Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Experience with engineering calculation or FEA software.
• Knowledge of manufacturing drawings, bills of materials and design documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design complete overhead‑crane arrangements and mechanical systems.
• Develop mechanical layouts from customer specifications and project requirements.
• Size and select motors, gearboxes, brakes and drive systems.
• Produce 3D models, detailed fabrication drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Provide engineering support during fabrication, installation and commissioning.
• Investigate technical issues and implement practical design improvements.
