Job summary

Vacupack, a Melbourne-based manufacturer of food packaging, seeks a Manufacturing Excellence & Engineering Manager to lead a small engineering and project team. You will own the manufacturing improvement programme and drive performance across Production, Maintenance, Planning, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Design and Quality to turn data into sustained improvements.

You will lead machinery purchases, upgrades and capital projects from initial requirements to installation and handover,

Qualifications

Five+ years leading manufacturing improvement or engineering projects.
Proven track record delivering sustained improvements in OEE, uptime, throughput or cost.
Strong practical understanding of production machinery and processes.
Experience specifying, sourcing and evaluating machinery and equipment.
Experience managing capital equipment projects from initial requirements through installation and handover.

Responsibilities

Lead improvements in OEE, equipment availability, production speed and quality.
Establish reliable performance reporting and identify production losses.
Lead investigations into recurring machine, tooling, material, staffing and process issues.
Run focused performance reviews and drive actions to completion.
Collaborate with Maintenance to strengthen preventive maintenance and critical spares.
Improve machine setups, operating standards and troubleshooting capability.
Identify opportunities for automation and equipment upgrades.
Source machinery, obtain quotations, compare proposals and recommend purchases.
