Job summary

St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney invites applications for a Senior Manager, Financial Accounting and External Reporting. You will lead month-end and year-end close, prepare statutory financial statements, manage cash flow, fixed assets, leases, trusts, and ensure NSW Health reporting obligations are met.

  • CA/CPA qualified with significant senior-level financial accounting experience in healthcare or public sector.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise and knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Proven ability to lead month-end/year-end close, audits, and statutory compliance.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and ability to engage senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial accounting and external reporting for the hospital, overseeing month-end and year-end close.
  • Manage statutory reporting, cash flow, fixed assets, leases and trusts, ensuring compliance.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits; address findings and audit readiness.
  • Strengthen financial governance, controls, risk management and GL integrity.
  • Develop the financial accounting team and drive process improvements.

About the role

Lead financial accounting and reporting for St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, overseeing month-end/year-end close, financial statements, cash flow, fixed assets, leases, Trust Funds and statutory reporting.

Provide senior technical accounting leadership across complex areas including revenue, grants, capital works, leases, provisions and other significant accounting matters, ensuring sound judgement and compliance.

Strengthen financial governance, controls and risk management, maintaining GL integrity, reconciliations, delegations, audit readiness and timely escalation of material financial risks.

Lead audit and compliance activities, coordinating internal and external audits, resolving findings and ensuring all statutory and NSW Health reporting obligations are met.

Lead and develop the financial accounting team while driving continuous improvement across systems, processes, reporting and stakeholder relationships to strengthen financial performance and control.

About you

CA/CPA qualified with significant senior-level financial accounting experience, ideally within a complex healthcare, public sector or highly regulated environment.

Strong technical accounting expertise, with a proven ability to navigate complex accounting matters, apply Australian Accounting Standards and exercise sound professional judgement.

Experienced financial leader who can lead month-end/year-end reporting, statutory compliance, audit processes, financial controls and risk management.

Strategic and commercially minded, with strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights and recommendations for senior stakeholders.

Confident people leader and change driver, with a track record of developing high-performing teams, improving processes and systems, and building effective relationships across a complex organisation.
