In this role, you’ll:

Transport for NSW is responsible for delivering safe, reliable and sustainable transport outcomes for the people of NSW. High-quality financial insight and strong financial leadership are critical to supporting informed decision making across the organisation.

Our Suburban Services Branch in Sydney Trains delivers the end-to-end customer journey across 156 stations, 13 depots and all suburban rail lines. The role provides financial leadership across two closely connected operational functions – Service Delivery and Operations and Resources.

As Senior Manager Finance Partnering & Insights, you will be a trusted advisor to the Executive Directors. This is a highly operational finance leadership role supporting one of the largest workforce and operating cost bases across Sydney Trains.

You will lead financial management, planning and performance insight across functions that operate 24/7 and directly influence customer safety, reliability, service outcomes and workforce productivity. You will translate complex operational and financial data into clear advice, practical options and strategic insight for senior leaders.

Your advice and leadership will support the delivery of Rail Review implementation, service reliability, safety, workforce productivity, operational resilience, customer outcomes and long-term financial sustainability.

These permanent positions are located at our Macquarie Park office; however, there will be flexibility to work from the offices of the supported divisions or branches subject to business requirements.

You’ll have tertiary qualification (Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related discipline) with relevant industry experience, and full membership of a recognised professional accounting body. You’ll have experience in transport, infrastructure, utilities or another large operational environment, ideally involving workforce-intensive cost management.

You’ll have extensive experience as a senior finance leader, with strong financial management and business partnering capability in a large and/or complex organisation.

You hold strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and explain complex information clearly.

Your leadership style is grounded in integrity, accountability, collaboration and a considered professional approach to public-sector financial management.

You’ll be comfortable and confident in a fast-paced, dynamic 24/7 environment with competing priorities.
