Job summary

Pepper Money in Australia seeks a Senior Manager - Compliance to strengthen our compliance framework across Australia and New Zealand. You will work with the Head of Compliance to provide trusted advice, drive regulatory change, oversee monitoring and embed a strong compliance culture.

You will lead the team, review communications for regulatory alignment, and partner with business units to strengthen controls and manage risk in a dynamic regulatory environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a compliance role within Australian financial services.
• Knowledge of NCCP, AML/CTF, privacy, consumer credit and related Aus/NZ obligations.
• Strong communication with senior leaders and regulators; practical risk-based thinking.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and improvement of the compliance framework and monitoring program.
• Coordinate regulatory change activities and ensure obligations are understood and met.
• Provide trusted compliance advice across privacy, AML/CTF, and consumer lending.
• Review customer communications to meet regulatory and business expectations.
• Assess incidents and support regulatory reporting, including data breaches.
• Mentor and develop the compliance team to build a high-performing culture.

The Role

As Senior Manager - Compliance, you’ll play a key role in supporting and strengthening Pepper Money’s compliance framework across Australia and New Zealand. You’ll work closely with the Head of Compliance and senior stakeholders to provide trusted advice, drive regulatory change, oversee compliance monitoring and help embed a strong compliance culture across the business.

• Lead the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the compliance framework, including the compliance monitoring program.
• Support regulatory change activity and help ensure obligations are understood, implemented and managed within required timeframes.
• Provide trusted compliance advice across key areas including privacy, AML/CTF, fraud, design and distribution obligations, NCCP matters and customer remediation.
• Review customer communications, forms and marketing materials to ensure they meet regulatory and business expectations.
• Assess incidents and support regulatory reporting requirements, including ASIC reportable situations and eligible data breaches.
• Partner with business units to strengthen controls, manage compliance risk and support compliant business practices.
• Manage escalated customer resolution matters, including AFCA complaints where required.
• Lead, mentor and develop the compliance team, creating a positive, accountable and high-performing team environment.
• Champion a strong compliance and risk culture by encouraging ownership, early risk identification and continuous improvement across the organisation.

About you

You’re an experienced compliance leader with deep knowledge of the Australian financial services regulatory environment and the confidence to advise senior stakeholders on complex obligations. You bring strong judgement, clear communication and a practical approach to balancing regulatory expectations with commercial outcomes.

• Bring significant experience in a compliance role within Australian financial services, ideally with exposure to mortgages, asset finance or consumer lending.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of key regulatory areas including NCCP, AML/CTF, privacy, consumer credit, competition and consumer law, and related Australia and New Zealand obligations.
• Hold tertiary qualifications in law, compliance, risk management or a related discipline.
• Communicate clearly and confidently with senior leaders, business heads, committees, regulators and external stakeholders.
• Lead with credibility, supporting team performance while helping others build their regulatory and compliance capability.
• Apply strong analytical thinking, judgement and problem-solving skills when assessing compliance risks and business impacts.
• Influence stakeholders effectively and provide practical, solutions-focused advice in a changing regulatory environment.
• Work collaboratively across teams, building strong relationships while maintaining a clear focus on quality, accountability and doing the right thing.
• Bring additional experience as an AML/CTF, AML/CFT or Privacy Officer, which would be well regarded.
