About the role:

The Senior Manager - Business Continuity and Crisis Management leads ASX's enterprise-wide business continuity and crisis management capabilities, supporting the organisation to prepare for, respond to and recover from severe operational disruption.

The role is accountable for maintaining effective business continuity and crisis management frameworks, standards, plans, governance and exercising arrangements. It also leads the delivery and transition into business-as-usual of key Operational Resilience initiatives under the Accelerate Milestone Plan relating to the Business Service Data Model Hierarchy, scenario testing and resilience remediation, and resilience insights, data and tooling.

The role works closely with business, technology, operations, risk and other resilience functions to ensure critical operations and their dependencies are understood, continuity arrangements are effective, and resilience gaps are identified, reported and remediated.

The Enterprise Resilience team operates as a Centre of Excellence for operational resilience, business continuity and crisis management across ASX. The team establishes enterprise-wide frameworks, standards and methodologies and works with business, technology, operations and risk teams to strengthen preparedness for severe disruption.

The team is also responsible for delivering key components of the Operational Resilience workstream within the Accelerate Program, including the Critical Operations Framework, resilience scenario testing, remediation oversight, resilience reporting and supporting data and technology capabilities.

What you will be doing:
  • Lead ASX's enterprise Business Continuity Management and Crisis Management capabilities, ensuring the organisation is prepared to respond to, recover from and learn from significant operational disruptions.
  • Maintain and continuously improve business continuity and crisis management frameworks, standards, governance arrangements, policies and supporting methodologies to meet organisational and regulatory expectations.
  • Drive enterprise preparedness through continuity planning, crisis exercising, capability development and assurance activities, ensuring continuity and crisis management arrangements remain effective, practical and fit for purpose.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that strengthen resilience capabilities across the enterprise, including dependency management, resilience data and insights, scenario testing, resilience reporting and remediation of identified gaps.
  • Partner with business, technology, operations and risk teams to ensure continuity and crisis management requirements are embedded within critical operations, business processes and significant change initiatives.
  • Provide resilience leadership and expert advice during major incidents, crises, regulatory engagements and assurance reviews, supporting effective decision-making and coordinated organisational response.
  • Monitor and assess resilience risks, emerging vulnerabilities and lessons identified from incidents, exercises and reviews, driving sustainable improvement outcomes across the enterprise.
  • Deliver clear reporting, insights and recommendations to senior management, governance forums and regulators, supporting informed decision-making and oversight of resilience performance.
What you will bring:
Must have
  • Significant senior-level experience in business continuity management, crisis management, operational resilience or operational risk within financial services, critical infrastructure or another highly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise business continuity and crisis management frameworks, standards and governance arrangements.
  • Proven experience developing and exercising business continuity plans, crisis management plans and severe but plausible disruption scenarios.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating organisational responses to major operational incidents or crises.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify resilience gaps, establish remediation priorities and oversee delivery through to sustainable closure.
  • Strong program and delivery leadership experience, including management of complex cross-functional initiatives, dependencies, risks and governance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Operations and operational resilience regulatory expectations, including CPS 230 and/or relevant ASIC and RBA requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across senior management, business, technology, operations and risk functions.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise and decision-focused reporting for executive and Board-level governance forums.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, risk management, emergency management, finance or a related discipline.
Nice to have:
  • Experience within or supporting financial market infrastructure, an exchange, clearing house or central counterparty.
  • Experience with business service data models, dependency mapping or resilience technology platforms, including ServiceNow, CSDM or CMDB.
