Why join the ASX?

When you join ASX, you’re joining a company with a strong purpose – to power a stronger economic future by enabling a fair and dynamic marketplace for all.

In your new role, you’ll be part of a leading global securities exchange with a strong brand. We are known for being a trusted market operator and an exciting data hub.

We are more than a securities exchange!

The ASX team brings together talented people from a diverse range of disciplines.

We run critical market infrastructure, with 1 in 3 people employed within technology. Yet we have a unique complexity of roles across a range of disciplines such as operations, program delivery, financial products, investor engagement, risk and compliance.

We’re proud to foster a workplace where diversity is celebrated and inclusion is part of our everyday culture. Our employee-led networks champion LGBTIQ+ inclusion, promote gender equality, accessibility and wellbeing, inspire giving and volunteering, and celebrate cultural and religious events, creating a sense of belonging for all. As an AWEI Bronze employer and member of the Champions of Change Coalition for gender equality, we’re committed to a fair and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

About the team:

ASX Supervision is the division responsible for the supervision of market participants and issuers listed on the exchange and is at the front line of ASX’s core license obligations to monitor and enforce the market’s operating rules that helps maintain a fair, orderly, transparent market and fair and efficient facilities —protecting not only the interests of investors but also the reputation of Australia’s financial system as a whole.

Within the division, the Transformation and Operational Performance (TOP) team is a multi-disciplinary team of process, systems, data, and risk professionals that collectively enables the ASX Supervision division to achieve its strategic outcomes.

Reporting to the General Manager, Transformation and Operational Performance (TOP), the role is responsible for driving operational excellence through robust process and control mechanisms. Interacts closely with the front line and other parts of ASX involved in the end-to-end process for supervision of market participants and issuers to ensure operating standards are consistently applied and continuously improved. This will include supporting the implementation of common practices across the division to improve operational effectiveness and efficiencies, operational risk management, and business and market ecosystem resilience.

What you will be doing:

How we do things at ASX is just as important as what we do. This means, if you’re a people leader, you will be responsible for both the core duties outlined below, and providing leadership to your team to ensure we foster a collaborative, inclusive team environment, where people feel empowered, accountable, and deeply connected (as outlined in our Leadership Principles).

  • Coordinate business and operational resilience activities to strengthen resilience capability across ASX Supervision’s critical operations and processes.

  • Using structured methodologies, help team understand key activities, dependencies, and recovery strategies.

  • Develop business continuity playbooks and ensure they are current, practical and fit for purpose. Coordinate testing, training and awareness of these playbooks across the function.

  • Drive the design and delivery of resilience uplift initiatives collaborating with stakeholders for end-to-end approaches to resilience. Support Participants Supervision in driving broader market ecosystem resilience initiatives.

  • Develop reporting, dashboards and metrics to measure resilience performance of ASX Supervision and market participants. Regularly undertake research on external best practices and industry standards

  • Support incident management coordination activities

Operational excellence

  • Working with subject matter experts (SMEs), develop proficient knowledge of the division’s operational processes and procedures and regularly conduct critical analysis of the ‘as is’ or current state.

  • Working with SME’s, write clear and easily understood process, procedure and training documents. Keep abreast of changes to operating processes and ensure documents are regularly refreshed and kept up to date.

  • Map key processes and practices, maintain the division’s process map library, updating these where required.

  • Drive the design and implementation of future state processes including designing and operating effective controls for critical steps within processes.

  • Develop feedback mechanisms to monitor performance to agreed operating standards. Monitor and analyse performance metrics to assess overall performance

Continuous improvement

  • Run end to end process reviews, identify pain points, and lead the work that removes them. Identify and implement opportunities to augment/ automate workflows, reduce manual touchpoints and increasing use of data to support operational performance.

  • Lead and/or support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. Prepare and maintain high quality documentation, including well-defined problem statements, target outcomes, options, recommendations, requirements and implementation and training plans. Provide regular status reporting.

  • Perform end to end project implementation / delivery related activities including business analysis, project management, testing, change management and implementation. Ensure assigned items are delivered efficiently and effectively aligned to ASX delivery practices.

  • Coach and upskill team members on best practices in operational excellence, customer-centric thinking, and data-informed decision-making.

Operational risk management

  • Develop action plans to support issue management including developing required artefacts to evidence issue / action closure. Monitor and update progress reports on open issues and action to ensure these are adequately completed within agreed timeframes.

  • Drive and champion a ‘lesson learnt’ framework and process to drive a culture of analysis and learning from incidents and near misses.

  • Undertake reviews and help define sustaining mechanisms to support the embedding of uplifted practices including collaborating with line 1 risk and compliance partners in control uplift efforts.

  • Provide regular reporting to senior stakeholders on issue trends and resolution progress.
