Job summary

Sharp & Carter is sourcing a Senior Management Accountant for a flagship FMCG/Retail client in Sydney. The role is full-time and based in Macquarie Park with 3-4 days in the office, offering strong growth and exposure to senior finance leadership.

You will partner with leadership to deliver management accounting insights, drive cost efficiencies, and provide robust financial analysis across the national business. A CA/CPA qualification and cross-functional collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified accounting professional with CA/CPA designation.
• Ability to provide technical accounting insight and financial analysis.
• Experience partnering with senior leadership and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end processes with accurate reporting and analysis.
• Provide cost insights through financial analysis and project tracking.
• Deliver variance analysis and guidance on financial processes and internal controls.
• Support operations (warehousing, logistics, inventory) with financial insights.
• Drive continuous process improvements and ad-hoc finance projects.

About the role

An exciting, business critical role working with a truly iconic, globally recognisable FMCG/Retail organisation currently exists in order to fill a key role in their finance team. This is a high-impact finance role that will contribute directly to the company's strong growth trajectory while working within a high-performing, forward-thinking team.

Taking a hands-on approach; this Senior Management Accountants' position will help assist in the management and communication of the companies' financial & management accounting activities on a national scale. This role is a full-time, permanent opportunity based in their Macquarie Park office (3-4 days per week in office).

The responsibilities

The role partners closely with the leadership team to provide technical accounting expertise, management accounting insight, and financial analysis to support informed decision-making and drive operational and cost efficiencies. Furthermore, this role applies strong financial and management accounting discipline to analyse performance, cost drivers, and variances, supporting operational leaders with practical insights to improve financial outcomes.

Reporting into the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to);

• Responsible for month-end and year-end tasks, pre and post to the preparation of month end management reporting and analysis.
• Partner with the assigned business unit to provide cost insights through financial analysis, project financial tracking and periodic financial reports and drive improvements.
• Provide analysis, insights and recommendations to CFO and Finance Manager on actual operating performance including variances, overheads spend to budget / variance
• Provide guidance on financial processes, procedures and maintain internal controls; focus on supporting Operations function including warehouses, logistic and inventory activities
• To investigate and resolve reconciliation variances
• Drive continuous process improvement initiatives
• Assist in ad-hoc projects as directed by the CFO and the wider Finance team

The successful applicant will have

Ideally, you will be aCA/CPA qualified accounting professional and will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills as your ability to interact and engage cross-functionally within the business will be crucial to your success. Additionally, you will have a strong attention to detail and a self-motivated approach to continuous learning / professional development. Furthermore, a background working in a Big 4 or Mid-Tier chartered firm will be considered advantageous.
