Job summary

Breville Group is seeking a Senior Makerspace Technician to lead complex fabrication projects, operate and maintain advanced machinery, and mentor other technicians in a dynamic innovation environment. The role focuses on delivering high-quality prototypes that meet safety and aesthetic standards.

You will help manage the Makerspace, oversee procurement and inventory, and collaborate with vendors while ensuring WHS compliance. This is a max-12-month contract in an on-site Sydney area workshop.

Qualifications

• 6–9 years' experience in prototyping and fabrication, including leadership in complex builds or projects.
• Certificate III or IV in a relevant trade (or equivalent experience).
• Proven ability to operate and keep advanced manufacturing equipment (e.g. CNC, laser cutting, 3D printing, and traditional workshop tools).
• Strong understanding of materials, processes, and workshop safety standards.
• A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge with staff and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Operate advanced machining equipment, including multi-axis CNC machinery. Experience with multi-axis robots is a plus.
• Lead high-complexity builds from planning through delivery.
• Mentor Junior and Makerspace Technicians in advanced fabrication and finishing techniques.
• Enforce WHS compliance and identify safety improvements.
• Assist in procurement, inventory management, and vendor coordination.
• Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and capability.

About the role

We're seeking a Senior Makerspace Technician to play a key role in our dynamic, hands-on innovation environment. In this role, you'll lead the execution of complex fabrication projects, operate and maintain advanced machinery, and mentor other technicians and users.
You'll bring a blend of high-level craftsmanship, technical expertise, and creative problem-solving to ensure all prototypes and projects meet the highest functional, aesthetic, and safety standards.
Beyond fabrication, you'll contribute to the ongoing development of the Breville Makerspace by managing inventory, coordinating with vendors, and supporting WHS compliance. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled maker who thrives on collaboration, continuous learning, and shaping an innovative workshop culture.

This is a 12 month max term contract.

We're Interested in Hearing from People Who Have:
