Job summary

Westpac Group in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Mainframe Storage Specialist to support our complex mainframe environment and drive proactive infrastructure improvements. You will work within the Mainframe Infrastructure Services team to design, implement and maintain storage solutions that meet operational needs.

The role requires 10+ years in IT Mainframe with 3+ in technical roles, deep expertise in storage management (IBM DS8000, TS7700, Brocade SAN), GDPS and DR concepts, plus strong

• Ten+ years of IT mainframe experience with at least three years in a highly technical role.
• Seven+ years in a complex IT infrastructure environment with storage and operations management.
• Advanced knowledge in Mainframe Storage management with IBM DS8000, TS7700 and Brocade SAN expertise.
• Advanced knowledge in GDPS, data replication and disaster recovery with complex implementations.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills with consultative ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What’s the role?

Infrastructure & Operations is embarking on a new operating model putting Westpac technologists in the driving seat by investing in our engineering skills to enable a proactive operating model.

The Infrastructure Services Specialist within the Mainframe Infrastructure Services team is required to support Westpac’s complex mainframe environment and increase their technical expertise.

The role plays an important role in the development and maintenance of technical solutions within the Mainframe and ensures that the detailed design and operations are fit for purpose.

What do I need?

• Ten+ years relevant IT Mainframe industry experience with at least three years in a highly technical role.
• Seven+ years’ experience in a complex IT infrastructure environment incorporating storage management, operational management, configuration and maintenance.
• Advanced knowledge in the Mainframe Storage management domain, with experience in managing IBM DS8000, TS7700 and Brocade SAN technologies.
• Advanced knowledge in GDPS, data replication and disaster recovery, with experience in complex implementation and recovery scenarios.
• Strong analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting and consultative skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
