Job summary

KAPiTAL Consulting is seeking a Senior M365 Infrastructure & Azure Cloud Engineer to support the modernization of its Microsoft infrastructure, cloud platforms and enterprise technology environment in Sydney.

The role focuses on Windows infrastructure, Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Entra ID and Azure Cloud, emphasizing resilience, modernisation of legacy apps, and highly available cloud solutions. This hands-on engineer will transition on-prem Windows/SQL Server to Azure-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and support Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and services.

• Improve infrastructure resilience, disaster recovery and business continuity, targeting near-zero RTO and RPO where feasible.
• Administer and optimise Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online and enterprise collaboration platforms.
• Manage Microsoft Entra ID, identity governance, access management and security controls.
• Support Windows Server infrastructure, Active Directory, virtualization and hybrid cloud environments.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior M365 Infrastructure & Azure Cloud Engineer to join a leading financial services organisation, supporting the modernisation of its Microsoft infrastructure, cloud platforms and enterprise technology environment.

The role will focus on Windows infrastructure, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Entra ID and Azure Cloud, with a strong emphasis on improving platform resilience, modernising legacy applications and delivering highly available cloud solutions.

A key priority will be transitioning traditional on-premise Windows and SQL Server environments into modern Azure native architectures, reducing single points of failure and improving business continuity.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring someone comfortable working across traditional Microsoft infrastructure while designing and implementing modern Azure cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement and support Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and services.
• Modernise legacy Windows Server, Hyper-V and SQL Server environments through Azure cloud migration and transformation.
• Design and implement Azure-native solutions using Azure SQL, managed services and high-availability architecture.
• Improve infrastructure resilience, disaster recovery and business continuity, targeting near-zero RTO and RPO where feasible.
• Administer and optimise Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online and enterprise collaboration platforms.
• Manage Microsoft Entra ID, identity governance, access management and security controls.

Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience across Windows Server, Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Azure.
• Proven Azure infrastructure engineering and architecture experience, including hands-on implementation.
• Experience migrating traditional Windows and SQL Server applications into Azure-native environments.
• Strong understanding of Azure SQL, Azure networking, compute, storage and managed services.
• Experience with Hyper-V, SQL Server and traditional Windows client/server architectures.
• Strong Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, identity and access management experience.
• Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant infrastructure and disaster recovery solutions.
• Understanding of RTO/RPO, automated failover, infrastructure resilience and business continuity.
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments and Microsoft enterprise technologies.
• PowerShell scripting, infrastructure automation and Azure Infrastructure as Code capabilities highly regarded.
• AWS exposure advantageous but not essential.
• Financial services experience highly regarded.
