Westpac is seeking a Lawyer/Senior Lawyer to join the Commercial Banking & Transactional Support Legal team on a 12-month parental leave contract, starting January 2027. The role is based in Sydney, with flexibility for other locations.

You will provide practical, commercially-focused legal advice across a broad range of banking matters, acting as a versatile generalist who can respond quickly to diverse issues and stakeholder needs nationally.

Qualifications

• 8+ years PQE and Australian solicitor admission.
• Strong experience in financial services and commercial banking.
• Knowledge of regulatory obligations (ASIC, Corporations Act, etc.).
• Ability to advise across diverse banking matters.

Responsabilités

• Provide practical legal advice across commercial banking matters including lending and security structures.
• Independently review and advise on lending transactions and documentation.
• Support deal structuring and regulatory considerations for the business.
• Build strong relationships with bankers, product teams and external providers.
• Advise on regulatory obligations relevant to business banking.
