Job summary

Rankin Ellison Lawyers is seeking an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Workers Compensation Insurance practice in Newcastle. You will manage a caseload, advise clients directly and take a lead role in progressing files to resolution.

This is an opportunity for an experienced practitioner to gain greater ownership within a forward-thinking firm. Responsibilities include analysing evidence, building client relationships, progressing matters efficiently, and coaching junior lawyers.

Qualifications

• Recognised law qualification and NSW Practising Certificate eligibility.
• 5+ years PQE in Workers Compensation and strong knowledge of relevant law.
• Strong analytical, drafting and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Experience coaching and developing junior lawyers and support staff.

Job description

Rankin Ellison Lawyers is looking for an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to join our Workers Compensation Insurance practice in Newcastle.

About the Role

You will manage a caseload of Workers Compensation matters, advising clients directly and taking a lead role in progressing files to resolution. This is an opportunity for an experienced Workers Compensation practitioner to take on greater ownership within a firm that gives its senior lawyers real autonomy.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Critically analysing factual and medicolegal evidence to provide legal advice within strict, specified timeframes and in line with service standards.
• Building and maintaining client relationships through open, timely communication on matter progress and developments.
• Progressing matters toward timely, cost-effective outcomes on the best available terms for clients.
• Coaching and mentoring junior lawyers and support staff.
• Maintaining current knowledge of relevant legislation, case law and regulatory developments in Workers Compensation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A recognised law qualification and eligibility to hold a current NSW Practising Certificate.
• 5+ years PQE in Workers Compensation matters, with thorough, current knowledge of the relevant law.
• Strong analytical, drafting and communication skills, with close attention to detail.
• Sound personal organisation and time management, with the ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
• The interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, insurers, employers, peers and support staff.
• A track record of coaching and developing more junior lawyers and support staff.
• A genuine commitment to ongoing professional development.
