Job summary

The Senior Landscape Officer role at Department for Environment and Water in Adelaide involves delivering high quality land-management guidance to land managers and communities. The focus includes biodiversity conservation, pest control and water resource management across a highly biodiverse urban region.

You will support project delivery, policy development and reporting, with a high degree of independence and alignment to the Green Adelaide Regional Plan and annual business plans.

Qualifications

  • Current class C driver's licence and ability to operate a 4WD.
  • Willingness to undertake NCCHC/background check within 12 months.
  • Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid working visa.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality land-management advice to land managers and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate biodiversity conservation and pest plant/animal control.
  • Support land and water resource management in the Green Adelaide region.
  • Assist in managing externally funded projects and contribute to policy work.
  • Prepare reporting and contribute to the Annual Business Plan and regional strategies.

About the Role:

The Senior Landscape Officer provides high quality landmanagement advice and information to land managers, community andindustry groups, in particular, the role has a focus onfacilitating biodiversity conservation, pest plant and animalcontrol, and land and water resource management in one of the mostbiodiverse and urbanised regions of Australia. The Senior LandscapeOfficer will also support the management and delivery of externallyand internally funded projects, contribute to policy developmentand planning processes, and contribute to organisational reportingrequirements. This role will work with a high level ofindependence. The activities of the Senior Landscape Officerplay an important role in delivering the initiatives identifiedwithin the Green Adelaide Regional Plan and the Annual BusinessPlan.

The role supports the Green Adelaide Board, refer Green Adelaide .

Contract: Term Contract up 2 years

Desirable Qualifications : An appropriatedegree/qualification in natural resource management, environmentalscience or equivalent is desirable.

Special Conditions:
  • May be required to participate in responses to stateemergencies or associated duties.
  • May be required to participate in Biosecurity emergencyresponse.
  • Will be required to undertake Authorised Officer trainingunder Landscape South Australia Act 2019.
  • A current class "C" driver's licence and willingness andability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
  • Out of hours work may be required.
  • This role has been identified as a Position of Trust. Priorto being employed, the successful candidate will be required toprovide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check(NCCHC), which is required to be renewed every three years. DEWwill cover the cost of renewal.
  • You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, orprovide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allowsyou to work in Australia without restrictions.

A successful applicant who is not currently employed by theDepartment for Environment and Water will be required to have anoriginal photo identification document sighted and provide a validNationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued withinthe last 12 months.

Remuneration: ASO5 ($92,122 min - $102,456 max)p.a.
