Job summary

Department for Environment and Water in Adelaide is seeking a Community Engagement Advisor to support day-to-day communications and engagement tasks. You will implement approved activities, maintain channels and websites, and assist community initiatives to foster public understanding and participation.

The role may address other projects as needs change, with a temporary term contract up to 18 months. Applicants must meet eligibility criteria and may travel as required.

About the Role:

Working under general direction, the Community EngagementAdvisor provides day‑to‑day internal and external communicationsand engagement support. The role is responsible for implementingapproved communication and engagement activities, maintainingcommunication channels, and websites and supporting communityengagement initiatives, designed to build public understanding,support and participation. The role may be required to supportother projects as business needs change.

Contract: Temporary Term Contract up to 18months

Desirable Criteria (includingqualifications):
  • An appropriate degree/qualification in communications,journalism or relevant discipline is desirable.
  • Experience using content management systems, social mediaplatforms and analytics packages is desirable.
Special Conditions:
  • May be required to participate in emergency preparedness,response and recovery activities required by governmentagencies
  • You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, orprovide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allowsyou to work in Australia.
  • This role has been identified as a Position of Trust.You will be required to provide a Nationally CoordinatedCriminal History Check which must be renewed every three yearsbefore expiry. DEW will cover the cost of renewal.
  • May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel,occasional overnight absences, and work outside of the normalhours of work.

A successful applicant who is notcurrently employed by the Department for Environment and Water willbe required to have an original photo identification documentsighted and provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal HistoryCheck (NCCHC) issued within the last 12 months.

Remuneration: ASO4 ($82,212 min - $86,180 max)p.a.
