Job summary

Australian Laboratory Services Pty Ltd in Townsville seeks a Senior Laboratory Assistant to operate AAS instrumentation within the Geochemistry team. This full‑time role involves processing digestion lab samples, calibration, QC and data review to meet client turnaround times.

Ideal candidates have a science degree or diploma in laboratory techniques and at least 2 years of relevant lab experience. Willingness to work rotating Day and Afternoon shifts is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a digestion and/or instrumentation lab
• Experience with AAS/ICP instruments is desirable
• Willingness to work rotating shifts
• Strong numerical and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Process samples in a digestion laboratory and analyze geochemical samples using AAS
• Perform instrument calibration and maintenance
• Troubleshoot instrument and data issues
• Prepare, calibrate and test standards and QC solutions
• Review QC data and ensure client turnaround times are met
• Work autonomously after training
• Support other duties as role develops
• Handle hazardous chemicals and solvents safely
