Job summary

Capgemini invites a Senior API Gateway Engineer to join its Enterprise Integration Practice. Based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Canberra, you will lead Kong-based API management programs, shaping enterprise platforms for major Australian organisations, and guiding strategy through to production and operations.

You will mentor teams, drive scalable architectures, and influence governance, security practices, and long-term technology roadmaps within regulated environments.

Qualifications

• : 8+ years delivering enterprise integration and API management in complex environments.
• 2: Expertise with Kong API Gateway and Kong Konnect in large-scale implementations.
• 3: Strong API architecture, microservices, service mesh, and API-led integration patterns.
• 4: Deep experience with Kubernetes, IaC, automation, and platform engineering practices.
• 5: Cloud-native architectures and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• 6: Implementing OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS and API security best practices.
• 7: Ability to lead stakeholders from engineers to executives; Agile delivery.

Responsibilities

• Act as senior technical authority for Kong API Gateway engagements.
• Lead design and delivery of secure, scalable API management solutions.
• Facilitate workshops with architects, engineers, security teams, and leaders.
• Define enterprise API standards and governance models.
• Drive innovation via reusable frameworks and platform engineering.
• Mentor engineers and architects across cross-functional teams.
