Job summary

Flight Centre Travel Group Australia is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to design, build, and own high‑volume backend services, connecting travel platforms with robust change/cancellation, waitlist, and policy capabilities.

You will lead architectural decisions, implement reliable APIs, and work with Azure, Datadog, and modern Java ecosystems to ensure performance and resilience in a mission‑critical travel platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java 11+ (ideally 17/21).
• Expert knowledge of the Spring ecosystem and building REST/Soap APIs.
• Experience instrumenting production systems with Datadog and building reliable, scalable services.
• Strong SQL and relational database design skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own complex backend services and APIs in Java (Spring Boot/Framework).
• Deliver modules for change/cancellation processing, waitlist, and policy integration.
• Produce architecture/API designs and lead code reviews for quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with product and Cloud/DevOps teams to ensure scalable, observable systems.
