Job summary

PHE Engineering, part of PHE Group, is seeking a Senior Engineer to shape our instrumentation, automation and control systems capability in Brisbane. You will lead from concept and design through software, panel integration, FAT, SAT and commissioning with our electrical construction, panel-building and HV teams.

The role spans power generation, renewables, mining, gas and infrastructure, delivering practical, systems-driven solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industrial I&C experience.
• Hands-on with at least one major PLC/SCADA platform.
• Full lifecycle experience from design through FAT/SAT and commissioning.

The Opportunity

PHE Engineering is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Engineer to help shape our instrumentation, automation and control systems capability.

This is not a narrow design-office role. You will lead work from concept and detailed design through software, panel integration, FAT, SAT and commissioning - alongside PHE's electrical construction, panel-building and high-voltage teams. Your work will reach the field, and you will see the outcome.

Our project pipeline spans power generation, renewables and BESS, mining, gas, manufacturing and major infrastructure. Backed by a national group of 550+ people and 50 years of delivery experience, PHE Engineering offers the influence of a growing team with the delivery strength of an established contractor.

In This Role You Will

• Lead instrumentation and control systems scopes across the complete project lifecycle.
• Develop practical PLC/DCS/SIS, SCADA/HMI, instrumentation and OT network solutions.
• Work directly with clients, constructors, panel builders, OEMs and commissioning teams.
• Lead FAT, SAT, site integration, troubleshooting and commissioning support.
• Review technical work, mentor engineers and help establish the standards and tools for a growing discipline.

About You

• An engineering degree in electrical, instrumentation, control systems, mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Typically, 8+ years of industrial I&C experience, including senior technical responsibility.
• Hands-on capability with at least one major PLC/SCADA platform and strong knowledge of instrumentation and industrial communications.
• Full-lifecycle experience from design through FAT/SAT and commissioning.
• The communication skills to earn client trust, lead technical discussions and develop other engineers.
