Job summary

ConocoPhillips Australia is seeking an Instrument & Control Specialist to join the M&R team. This role provides advanced skills in instrumentation and controls, supports maintenance strategy, troubleshooting, and defect elimination while ensuring compliance with standards and processes.

You will report to the M&R Supervisor – Reliability, collaborate across production and maintenance teams, and supervise short-term contract personnel when on site.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of industrial instrumentation and control experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or heavy industry.
• Electrical Trade Qualification with Queensland Electrical Mechanic License.
• Experience with control valves, pneumatic actuators, and process instrumentation.
• EEHA installation/maintenance with 5+ years of practical work.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot Instrumentation and Control equipment with production and maintenance teams.
• Coach maintenance and operations on instrument and control aspects.
• Review critical function test results and develop action plans.
• Participate in Maintenance Change Requests and Deferment processes.
• Oversee inventory, budgets and spare parts for I&C equipment.
• Root cause analysis for instrument/controls defects and improvements.
