Job summary

Wesfarmers’ Corporate Technology team is seeking a senior infrastructure and cloud engineer to lead the modernisation of our Azure and hybrid platforms. You’ll own cloud environments, drive automation, and deliver platform engineering at scale to support critical Corporate Office services.

You’ll work with a collaborative team of security, network and software engineers, mentoring others, shaping technical direction, and applying Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, and guardrails to improve

Qualifications

• Senior infrastructure and cloud engineer with hands-on experience modernising and migrating on-premises environments into Azure.
• Experience across Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware and hybrid identity with strong Azure engineering capability.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Bicep or similar tooling to build repeatable automation.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and core identity services (Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online).
• Ability to influence technical direction, mentor others and collaborate with architects, security specialists and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership across Wesfarmers' cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Lead the migration and transformation of traditional infrastructure into a modern cloud operating model.

About your team

Our Corporate Technology team partners with stakeholders across Corporate Office and the broader Wesfarmers Group to deliver secure, scalable and modern technology platforms.

Within the Strategy and Delivery stream, the Infrastructure team is responsible for the design, delivery and operation of the platforms that underpin Corporate Office technology services.

You’ll join a small, highly collaborative team of cloud, infrastructure, network and cyber security specialists focused on engineering excellence, automation and the ongoing modernisation of the platforms that support Corporate Office.

About you

You are a technically strong infrastructure and cloud engineer with hands‑on experience modernising and migrating on‑premises environments into Azure.

Your background spans traditional Microsoft infrastructure, Azure, Microsoft 365 and hybrid identity environments.

You have a strong engineering mindset and prefer solving problems with code, automation and repeatable patterns rather than manual administration. Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines and platform automation are familiar territory, and you're passionate about improving reliability, security and operational efficiency through modern engineering practices.

You bring sound judgement, strong troubleshooting capability and the credibility to influence technical direction, mentor engineers and build trusted relationships across architecture, cyber security, delivery and business teams.

What you’ll do

You’ll provide senior technical leadership across Wesfarmers' cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments, helping shape the future of our platform capabilities while supporting critical business services.

• Cloud platform engineering: own and evolve Wesfarmers' Azure environment, Microsoft 365 platform and supporting cloud services, ensuring they remain secure, resilient and fit for purpose.
• Infrastructure modernisation: lead the migration and transformation of traditional infrastructure into a modern cloud operating model, redesigning workloads and platforms where appropriate.
• Infrastructure-as-Code and automation: establish and enhance Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD and automation practices using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Security and platform governance: embed security‑by‑design principles across cloud platforms, ensuring services align with cyber security, risk and compliance requirements.
• Project delivery and technical assurance: drive the technical delivery of cloud and infrastructure initiatives, providing technical leadership, design assurance and vendor oversight.
• Capability uplift: mentor engineers and help grow cloud, automation and platform engineering capability across the wider Infrastructure team.

What you’ll need

• Hybrid infrastructure expertise: deep experience across Microsoft infrastructure environments, including Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware and hybrid identity, combined with strong Azure engineering capability.
• Cloud modernisation experience: proven experience migrating and modernising on‑premises environments into Azure, with the ability to bridge traditional infrastructure and modern cloud platforms.
• Infrastructure-as-Code and automation: hands‑on experience with Terraform, Bicep or similar tooling, and a passion for building repeatable, automated solutions rather than manual administration.
• Microsoft platform expertise: strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and core identity services, including Entra ID, Intune and Exchange Online.
• Technical leadership: the ability to influence technical direction, mentor others and work effectively with architects, security specialists, vendors and business stakeholders.
