Job summary

Calleo is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support delivery, operation and continuous improvement of critical ICT infrastructure and secure network services. You will work across a complex government environment, focusing on enterprise infrastructure, data centre operations and secure networking.

Ideal candidates have strong expertise in routing, switching, security technologies and documentation, with an ability to lead technical workstreams from design through delivery.

Qualifications

• Enterprise infrastructure engineering and operational support experience.
• Strong networking expertise covering routing, switching and secure networks.
• Experience delivering large-scale ICT infrastructure in government, enterprise or critical sectors.
• Proven design, implementation and maintenance experience for infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident management and problem resolution capabilities.
• Experience producing documentation (design docs, SOPs, deployment guides).
• Ability to lead workstreams and contribute to projects from design to delivery.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are partnering with a leading Federal Government department seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of critical ICT infrastructure and secure network services. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly capable engineer with a strong background in enterprise infrastructure, network services, security technologies and data centre operations. You will work across a complex environment supporting secure systems, virtual service environments, networking infrastructure and major ICT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise across infrastructure projects and operational environments.
• Design, implement, maintain and enhance virtual service environments and supporting infrastructure.
• Support secure network, gateway and data centre services.
• Configure, deploy and maintain servers, virtual platforms and network infrastructure.
• Deliver infrastructure upgrades, remediation activities and technology improvements.
• Monitor system performance, capacity and availability across enterprise environments.
• Support infrastructure lifecycle management and asset governance activities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, project teams and external service providers.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, deployment guides and operational procedures.
• Contribute to infrastructure planning, implementation and operational support activities nationwide.

Required Experience

• Demonstrated experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering and operational support.
• Strong networking expertise covering routing, switching and secured network environments.
• Experience supporting large-scale ICT infrastructure in government, enterprise or critical infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience with infrastructure design, implementation and maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident management and problem resolution capabilities.
• Experience delivering technical documentation including design documents, SOPs and deployment guides.
• Ability to lead technical workstreams and contribute to infrastructure projects from design through to delivery.

Highly Desirable Skills

• Experience with secure network environments, secure web gateways and secure email gateways.
• Knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks including PSPF and ISM.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Cisco networking technologies
  • Palo Alto or Fortinet firewalls
  • F5 load balancing technologies
  • Virtualisation platforms and enterprise server infrastructure
• Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python or similar technologies.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Infrastructure Engineer, Network Engineer or Network Security Engineer who enjoys working in complex enterprise environments and delivering secure, reliable ICT services.

You will have strong stakeholder engagement skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high technical standards.
