Job summary

UpperGround by Hudson is seeking an experienced Infrastructure/Cloud Engineer for an IAM modernisation program in a large Australian Government environment. The role focuses on cloud and enterprise infrastructure, with emphasis on Microsoft Entra ID and a transition to cloud-ready architecture, onsite in Canberra.

The successful candidate will collaborate with architecture, cybersecurity, apps and service delivery teams to ensure secure, resilient identity changes.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD.
• Strong background in Active Directory and Windows Server.
• Experience with Azure / Microsoft 365 and hybrid cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Intune and endpoint management.
• Knowledge of networking, firewalls, DNS and certificates.
• Automation and scripting for infrastructure tasks.

• Assess and manage infrastructure dependencies across identity, applications, endpoints and remote access.
• Support networking, firewalls, DNS, certificates, proxies and connectivity requirements.

• Build and maintain development, test, UAT and production environments.
• Support monitoring, logging, backup, recovery and operational readiness.
• Develop technical documentation and knowledge-transfer materials.
• Automate repeatable infrastructure and configuration activities using scripting and approved tools.

Job description

Our client is a Federal Government agency, seeking an experienced Infrastructure / Cloud Engineers to join a major Identity and Access Management Modernisation project within a large Australian Government environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a significant technology transformation, helping transition legacy identity platforms towards a modern, cloud-ready architecture centred around Microsoft Entra ID.

Location: Canberra - onsite

Eligibility: Australian Citizens only - to obtain baseline security clearance

Engagement: 12 month Contract with extensions

Role closes on the 14th OCT - applications received after this date will be reviewed for future roles

About the Role

You will work across cloud and enterprise infrastructure, supporting the design, configuration, testing and implementation of infrastructure required for the IAM modernisation program.

You'll collaborate closely with architecture, cyber security, applications, service delivery and specialist technical teams to ensure identity changes are secure, resilient and operationally ready.

Key Responsibilities

• Work across Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Azure and hybrid infrastructure
• Assess and manage infrastructure dependencies across identity, applications, endpoints and remote access
• Support networking, firewalls, DNS, certificates, proxies and connectivity requirements
• Support Intune, Windows endpoints, Citrix/VDI and remote access environments
• Build and maintain development, test, UAT and production environments
• Support monitoring, logging, backup, recovery and operational readiness
• Assist with production deployments, troubleshooting, change management and post-implementation support
• Develop technical documentation, support procedures and knowledge-transfer materials
• Automate repeatable infrastructure and configuration activities using scripting and approved tools

About You

We're looking for experienced Infrastructure or Cloud Engineers with strong Microsoft enterprise experience, ideally including:

• Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD
• Active Directory and Windows Server
• Azure / Microsoft 365
• Hybrid cloud and enterprise infrastructure
• Networking, firewalls, DNS and certificates
• Intune / endpoint management
• Infrastructure automation and scripting
• Experience working within large, complex enterprise environments

Experience with AD FS, Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM), Citrix/VDI, Zero Trust or identity migration projects will be highly regarded.
