Job summary

Hudson Recruitment is seeking a Data AI Architect in Brisbane hybrid to define, govern, and assure the architecture of the Intelligence Technology data and analytics platform built on Azure Data Services, Databricks and Power BI.

You will provide architectural leadership for data governance, AI adoption, and secure, scalable enterprise platforms, aligning with enterprise architecture and security requirements within a large government program.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or related roles.
• Proven delivery of enterprise-scale cloud, analytics, intelligence, or digital transformation solutions.
• Strong background across Microsoft Azure stack and data/AI services.
• Ability to provide strategic architectural advice and technical leadership in complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of the data and analytics platform on Azure.
• Own target-state data architecture including data acquisition, ingestion, transformation, storage and governance.
• Design and govern data platform architectures (Data Lakehouse, Medallion, Data Mesh).
• Lead AI and advanced analytics architecture activities including ML/Generative AI and automation.
• Develop data models, governance frameworks, and technical patterns for enterprise intelligence.

Job Title: Data AI Architect

Contract: Initial Contract to 26/02/2027, with a planned extension to 29/02/2028, long-term program

Location: Brisbane - Hybrid

Job Summary

Our client is a well-established QLD state government agency. They are working on a large-scale Intelligence Technology program.
The Data/AI Architect is responsible for defining, governing and assuring the architecture of the Intelligence Technology data and analytics platform built on Microsoft Azure Data Services, Databricks and Power BI reporting technologies. The role ensures solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture, security, information management and operational requirements while supporting successful program delivery.
This role is responsible for technical leadership to relevant product development, delivery, and support team members.

Your key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of the Intelligence Technology data and analytics platform, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and business outcomes.
• Own the target-state data architecture, including data acquisition, ingestion, transformation, storage, governance, intelligence, reporting, analytics and AI capabilities.
• Design and govern modern data platform architectures, including Data Lakehouse, Medallion Architecture, Data Mesh principles, operational data stores, and analytical data assets.
• Lead AI and advanced analytics architecture activities, identifying opportunities to leverage machine learning, generative AI, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation.
• Develop data models, architecture standards, governance frameworks, and technical patterns supporting enterprise-wide intelligence capabilities.
• Provide architecture leadership for Azure data services, including storage, processing, analytics, governance, monitoring, and security capabilities.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify data, intelligence, analytics, and AI requirements and translate them into sustainable technical solutions.
• Provide strategic advice regarding data governance, information management, data quality, metadata, lineage, and AI adoption.
• Ensure alignment between operational systems, enterprise data sources, analytics platforms and intelligence products.
• Lead technical design reviews for data engineering, reporting, AI, analytics, and information management initiatives.
• Support the development of data and AI roadmaps, ensuring future capabilities remain scalable, secure, and aligned with organisational objectives.
• Ensure AI-enabled solutions are developed in accordance with Responsible AI principles, including transparency, accountability, privacy protection, auditability and appropriate human oversight.
• Establish standards supporting data ownership, stewardship, classification, retention and secure information sharing.
• Develop enterprise information models and master data principles supporting cross-agency intelligence and information sharing.

Technical skills required

• 10+ years' experience in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or related architecture roles.
• Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud, analytics, intelligence, digital transformation, or business application solutions.
