Job summary

CPB Contractors is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Relations Advisor to join our project delivery team on a major regional Queensland infrastructure project. The role is based in Brisbane with frequent site travel and FIFO from interstate locations, supporting a 15:6 roster and close collaboration with project leadership and the People & Culture function.

You will provide specialist industrial relations advice, manage workplace relations matters and ensure compliance with legislation

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Law or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in an Industrial Relations Advisor or similar role, ideally within major infrastructure, construction, engineering or another project-based environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian industrial relations legislation, enterprise agreements, modern awards, union engagement and dispute resolution processes.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide practical advice and manage sensitive workplace matters in a fast-paced project environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on industrial relations matters, including interpretation and application of enterprise agreements, modern awards, employment legislation and workplace policies.
• Support the management of employee and industrial relations issues, including grievances, disputes, disciplinary matters and workplace investigations.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with project leadership, site management, employees, unions and other relevant stakeholders to support productive workplace relations.
• Monitor industrial relations risks and trends, providing advice on workforce issues, union engagement, industrial action and strategies to minimise disruption to project delivery.
• Ensure compliance with industrial relations obligations and project requirements, maintaining accurate documentation, preparing reports and supporting the implementation of IR policies and procedures.
