Job summary

NSW Department of Customer Service in Sydney CBD is seeking a Senior Lawyer for Digital & Platforms on a 12-month temporary basis, starting February 2027. The role offers hybrid work options and reports to a Managing Lawyer within the DCS Legal team.

The successful candidate will provide strategic legal advice on ICT projects, negotiate major contracts, and help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting NSW’s digital agenda across government.

Qualifications

• Admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW.
• Current practising certificate as a solicitor.
• Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience in digital/technology, IP, privacy, or related fields.
• Government practice experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, pragmatic, focused and accountable specialist legal advice across technology and digital projects.
• Support complex commercial negotiations to ensure compliance and successful delivery of major projects.
• Advise, draft, review, and negotiate software/licensing, product development, IP, data privacy, and cloud service agreements.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to translate complex legal issues into contractual documents while ensuring probity and regulatory obligations.
