Job summary

CoMade is seeking a senior hydraulic and fire protection engineer to lead the design of hydraulic services and fire protection across industrial, infrastructure and building projects in Melbourne. You’ll set technical standards, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient systems.

You will work on potable and non-potable water, hot water, drainage, fire alarm systems, and suppression systems, ensuring compliance with NCC and AS standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil or Hydraulic Engineering required.
• Minimum 5+ years demonstrated experience designing hydraulic and fire protection services for industrial facilities, infrastructure projects and building services.
• Proven ability to design hydraulics and fire protection services from concept through to construction.
• Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD and hydraulic calculation modelling software.
• Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, including managing scope, programme and fees.
• Experience coordinating with other consultants in the delivery of building services packages.
• Ideally experience working within a consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of hydraulic services across industrial, infrastructure and building projects from concept to commissioning.
• Lead fire protection system designs including AS1670.1, VESDA, linear heat detection.
• Undertake hydraulic calculations, system sizing, modelling and prepare reports and drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards.
• Manage project scope, programme, budget and deliverables for the hydraulic discipline.
• Coordinate with architects and other engineers to deliver integrated designs.
• Mentor and review work of junior engineers and designers.
