Job summary

DMA Engineers in Brisbane is seeking a Senior/Associate Hydraulic Engineer to lead hydraulic services design across diverse building projects from concept to completion. Based in Spring Hill, you’ll drive technical delivery and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, building strong client relationships.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Hydraulic Services, 7+ years of experience, and is RPEQ/QBCC-registered or pursuing accreditation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Services Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
• 7+ years’ experience in hydraulic services design within building services.
• RPEQ or QBCC registration or working towards accreditation.
• Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, NCC requirements, plumbing codes, and hydraulic building services design principles.
• Experience with hydraulic systems for buildings: sanitary plumbing, trade waste, hot/cold water, gas, stormwater, drainage, and fire hydrant/hose reel systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary design inputs.
• Ability to guide and support junior and intermediate team members.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, liaising with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Leading hydraulic services design across a wide range of building services projects.
• Overseeing documentation, design calculations, drawings, and schedules.
• Reviewing design outputs and supporting quality assurance.
• Mentoring engineers and designers within the hydraulic team.
• Coordinating with internal disciplines including mechanical, hydraulic, fire, and structural.
• Liaising with clients, architects, contractors, authorities, and external stakeholders.
• Supporting project planning, resourcing, fee input, and delivery strategy.
• Ensuring designs comply with Australian Standards and NCC requirements.
• Contributing to client relationships, business development, and growth of the hydraulic team.
