Job summary

Van der Meer Consulting in Sydney is seeking a Hydraulic Engineer with 5-10 years' industry experience to own design from brief to delivery. You will lead engineers and modellers and work under a Hydraulic Manager with 25+ years' experience to guide you.

You’ll work on a diverse range of hydraulic consulting projects including service stations, residential, hotels, data centres and more. Proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT and Bluebeam, plus strong on-site exposure and WHS compliance, is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years on-site or equivalent consulting experience.
• White Card and WHS compliance.
• Ambition to progress to professional registrations.
• Proactive, collaborative and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Lead hydraulic design and documentation through to delivery.
• Provide engineering estimates and cost-benefit analysis.
• Prepare project documentation in Bluebeam, AutoCAD and REVIT.
• Coordinate with engineers and modellers under the Hydraulic Manager.

The Opportunity

Van der Meer is looking for a Hydraulic Engineer with 5-10 years in the industry who can take a detailed project brief and own the design through to delivery. You will have Engineers and Modellers working for you to ensure we, as a team, achieve the project requirements. You will also have the guidance of Hydraulic Manager with more than 25 years of experience to answer any queries you may have.

You’ll work across a diverse range of Hydraulic consulting projects including:

• Small scale (Service Stations, Remedial Roof Assessments, Child Care Centres)
• Medium (Residential, Hotels, Retail, Restaurants, Schools)
• Larger scale (Data Centres, Ship-Building facilities, Warehouses, Hospitals)

About the role

You’ll be involved in the full consulting process, from concept and investigation through design, documentation, site time and project delivery.

You’ll work across:

• Hydraulic engineering design and documentation
• Engineering estimates and Cost Benefit Analysis
• Project documentation in Bluebeam, AutoCAD and REVIT

It is expected that you will have some design skills in H2X

Development of your skills in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Council and authority requirements

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Looking to progress towards Associate Engineer, obtain DFT (NSW), DBP (NSW), QBCC (QLD) and BPC (VIC) registrations and beyond.

It is expected you hold a Work, Health and Safety White Card and have at least 5 years’ experience on site (can be a combination of contractor and/or consulting).

The ability to be in the office 5 days per week to coordinate projects and help train your team.

You’ll ideally have 5-10years' Hydraulic engineering experience in consulting and exposure to a variety of projects/sectors and procurement methods.

Experience with , Bluebeam, AutoCAD and REVIT is a must have, as is experience working with Councils and Authorities.
