Job summary

GHD is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to join our Design and Building Engineering group for NSW/ACT. Based in Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra or Wollongong, you’ll bring specialist HVAC expertise to lead multi‑discipline projects within a global technical team.

You’ll mentor junior staff, manage client relationships and deliver high‑quality, bespoke HVAC solutions for complex buildings, including sustainability and electrification initiatives.

Qualifications

• Relevant university degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Between 7 and 15 years of experience with HVAC systems in a consulting environment.
• Familiarity with NCC and Australian Standards.
• Proficient with Revit, Bluebeam and heat-load software (Camel, HAP).
• Demonstrable project experience across commercial sectors and climate types.
• Membership of Engineers Australia and progress toward CPEng/NER is desirable.
• Strong communication and client engagement skills.
• Ability to mentor junior team members and deliver bespoke solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-profile buildings projects shaping our built environment.
• Oversee mechanical design for HVAC, BMS and electrification on complex projects.
• Work on a variety of projects including national and international locations.
• Provide clients with expert technical guidance and strategic advice.
• Lead project teams and mentor junior staff.
• Support ongoing career development within a collaborative culture.
