Job summary

Talesca in Sydney seeks an Electrical Design Engineer with high-voltage protection and metering design experience to join a major transmission network. You will contribute to protection design across new connections, upgrades and asset replacements.

You'll work within a secondary systems team, delivering protection schemes, relay configurations and design documentation while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Practical experience in high-voltage protection or secondary systems design.
• Experience across transmission, distribution, generation, renewables or major electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• HV substation protection and metering design.
• Protection schemes for transmission and connection projects.
• Protection philosophies, schematics and engineering calculations.
• Numerical protection relay selection, configuration and settings.
• Power system analysis for HV protection.
• New customer connections and modifications to existing network assets.
• Network augmentation, remediation and asset replacement projects.
• Preparation of technical specifications and design documentation.
• Supporting commissioning teams and resolving site issues.
• Fault investigations and technical analysis.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary design, construction and commissioning teams.
