Job summary

Downer Energy and Utilities is seeking a Senior HSE Advisor to support Transmission and Substation projects across Australia and New Zealand. This senior project assurance role focuses on site assurance, system quality, risk governance and verification of critical controls in high risk construction environments.

Reporting to the HSE Manager Transmission and Substation, you will lead assurance activities, maintain the Zero Harm risk register and provide independent challenge to project delivery

Qualifications

• Qualified in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
• Current White Card and relevant site access requirements.
• Significant experience in senior HSE roles within transmission, substations, utilities, infrastructure or high risk projects.
• Experience in site assurance, risk management, control verification and HSE governance.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and permit to work systems.
• Experience supporting audits, investigations and corrective action programs.
• Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours and influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead assurance of HSE plan implementation and control effectiveness.
• Govern the Zero Harm risk register.
• Perform critical control verification, inspections and surveillance.
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Oversee subcontractor HSE governance and performance.
• Deliver inductions, training and capability development.
• Support client audits, regulatory engagements and external assurance activities.
• Monitor HSE systems, data integrity and performance.
