Job summary

Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure NSW – Newcastle NSW is seeking a Senior Planning Officer to assess significant housing projects and help unlock new homes across NSW. You will provide expert planning advice, prepare assessment reports and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders to balance growth, sustainability and community needs.

The role is permanent full-time (35 hours per week) with flexible working supported.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in planning, environmental management, or engineering.
• Current Class C Driver Licence and willingness to travel.
• Experience applying environmental assessment and planning legislation to complex housing projects.

Responsibilities

• Assess significant housing projects and provide expert planning advice.
• Prepare assessment reports and recommendations for SSD pathways.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to balance growth, sustainability and community needs.
