Job summary

Niche Environment & Heritage, now part of Stantec, is seeking a Senior Heritage Consultant to lead Victorian heritage projects with a focus on Aboriginal cultural heritage. You will manage proposals through to delivery, maintain client relationships and mentor junior staff.

Based in Melbourne, you will engage with Traditional Owners, government agencies and industry stakeholders, applying strong technical writing and communication skills across diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in Archaeology, Heritage Management or related discipline.
• Experience in Aboriginal cultural heritage consulting especially in renewables, infrastructure or major development projects.
• Experience managing end-to-end consulting projects.
• Strong knowledge of Victorian heritage legislation and approvals processes.
• Experience in fieldwork and stakeholder consultation.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
• Australian working rights and a current driver’s licence.
• Experience in historical heritage management is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead Aboriginal and historical heritage assessments, including field surveys, consultation and reporting.
• Prepare Cultural Heritage Management Plans, impact assessments and due diligence reports.
• Manage heritage projects from initiation to completion, including scope, budgets and timelines.
• Engage with Traditional Owners, First Peoples organisations, government agencies, clients and stakeholders.
• Provide strategic advice on Victorian heritage legislation, compliance and approvals.
• Mentor junior team members in heritage investigations and reporting.
• Contribute to proposals, client relationships and business development.
• Share knowledge via presentations, papers and professional events.
