Job summary

Tassal Group is hiring a Technical Coordinator for our prawn hatchery in Proserpine. You will lead daily hatchery operations, prioritise tasks, and work across broodstock, larval rearing, algae production, and domestication programs to ensure high performance.

You will drive continuous improvement, mentor team members, and maintain high standards of welfare, biosecurity, and safety while delivering on production targets in Australia’s leading prawn breeding program.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in aquaculture, hatchery operations or related environment.
• Strong knowledge of animal husbandry and hatchery systems.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing team members.
• Ability to analyse production data and make informed decisions.
• Full Australian Working Rights.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day hatchery operations to meet production targets.
• Monitor animal health and water quality to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership, training and mentoring to hatchery staff.
• Resolve technical, husbandry and operational issues.
• Support inventory management and consumable planning.
• Analyse production data and recommend operational improvements.
• Uphold biosecurity, welfare, safety and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with broodstock, larval rearing and domestication teams.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance productivity and hatchery performance.
