Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will run the second-in-command finance team, ensure timely financial reporting, and align controls with Australian accounting standards.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification with degree in Accounting/Finance.
• 8+ years in a senior group finance leadership role.
• Proven experience leading an accounting/financial control team.
• Strong technical knowledge of Australian accounting standards and statutory reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the group level financial team and drive performance.
• Oversee month-end close, group consolidation, ledger integrity and reconciliations.
• Prepare statutory financial statements, regulatory reporting and external audits.
• Maintain internal controls and accounting policies in line with Australian standards.
• Coordinate group reporting across units, subsidiaries and joint ventures.
• Prepare financial reports and presentations for executives and Board.
• Provide technical accounting advice to senior stakeholders and business decisions.
• Identify improvements to reporting processes and controls.

Your New Employer

We are partnering with a large, complex organisation to appoint an experienced Group Finance Manager on an initial 6-12 month fixed-term contract. Based in Inner West, this is an immediate opportunity to step into a senior finance leadership position within an established finance function.

The role will provide critical backfill while the incumbent transitions into a key project, offering an experienced finance professional the opportunity to take ownership of group financial control, reporting and compliance within a high-profile organisation.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will act as the second-in-command across group finance, leading the financial control function and ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timely delivery of financial reporting across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Lead and develop the group level financial team, driving accountability, collaboration and high performance.
• Oversee month-end close, group consolidation, general ledger integrity and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage the preparation of statutory financial statements, regulatory reporting and external audit requirements.
• Maintain strong financial governance, internal controls and accounting policies in line with Australian accounting standards.
• Coordinate group reporting requirements across business units, subsidiaries and joint ventures.
• Prepare financial reports and presentations for senior executives and the Board.
• Partner with senior finance stakeholders to provide technical accounting advice and support business decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting processes, systems and controls.

About You

You are an experienced finance leader who can quickly establish credibility, take ownership of an established function and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. You will bring strong technical accounting knowledge alongside the leadership and stakeholder management skills required to operate at a senior level.

To Be Successful, You Will Have

• CA or CPA qualification, supported by a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• 8+ years’ experience in a senior group finance leadership role.
• Proven experience leading an accounting or financial control team.
• Strong technical knowledge of Australian accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated experience with group consolidation, month-end close and balance sheet management.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
• The ability to hit the ground running, manage competing priorities and deliver within tight deadlines.
