Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Principal Engineer – Grid Connection to lead major renewable energy and grid connection projects across Australia and internationally. You will provide technical leadership, sign off on studies, mentor engineers and extend Siemens’ capability into international markets, collaborating with OEMs on model development and validation.

Expertise in PSS/E, PSCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory, plus strong communication and commercial skills, are essential to shaping grid connection

Qualifications

• Extensive power systems expertise in grid connection and renewable projects.
• Hands-on experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, and/or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Knowledge of system strength, power quality, protection, fault ride-through and stability studies.
• Strong communication and commercial skills; able to influence technical outcomes and represent Siemens internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex power system studies across steady-state, RMS and EMT analyses using PSS/E, PSCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Provide technical leadership and sign-off across grid connection studies and project deliverables.
• Lead international project delivery, adapting methodologies to different grid codes, network requirements and regulatory frameworks.
• Collaborate with global OEMs to develop, benchmark and validate models for wind, solar PV, BESS, and hybrid plants.
• Support validation of plant controllers and equipment models against FAT, commissioning data.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen Siemens' grid connection capability.
