Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria is seeking a Senior Governance Adviser to support the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission. You will guide planning, advise the commissioner, and assist boards and leaders on plans, risks and decisions.

This fixed-term, full-time role lasts 18 months, with a salary of AUD 142,790–166,938 per year plus super. A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience is preferred, with strong writing and governance skills

Qualifications

• Experience providing expert advice on equal opportunity and human rights.
• Experience supporting boards and committees, with knowledge of government processes and governance.
• Strong writing skills to draft, edit and check complex documents.
• Sound judgement to solve problems, build relationships and respond to change.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear advice to the commissioner, board and leaders on plans, risks and decisions.
• Coordinate business plans and track progress towards goals.
• Prepare and check reports, speeches, letters and briefing notes.
• Organise board and committee meetings, prepare papers and record key decisions.
• Maintain policies and records for risk, integrity, privacy and information security.
