Job summary

The Trade Desk is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Network Team to architect and scale a global network platform spanning on‑premises data centers and multiple cloud environments. You will partner with SRE and infra teams to advance network automation, ensure health, performance, and resilience across thousands of hosts and global services.

The role emphasizes a software-first, architectural mindset with hands-on expertise in TCP/IP, BGP/OSPF, Kubernetes networking, and modern CNIs.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years hands-on network automation and operations in large-scale production
• Software-first mindset with strong development and networking experience
• Deep expertise in TCP/IP, OSI model, and large-scale IP networking protocols (BGP/OSPF)
• Hands-on with Kubernetes networking tech (Cilium/Calico) and CNIs
• Experience with software load balancers in production (NGINX/Envoy/HAProxy)
• Troubleshooting and performance tuning in Kubernetes/Docker with networking focus
• Proficient in SDN, QoS, IPv6 configurations, and network devices (SONiC, IOS, JunOS, Arista, Nokia)
• Infra-as-code, DevOps/SRE principles, automation pipelines, and AI tool integrations

Responsibilities

• Design and scale a global network platform across data centers and multi-clouds (AWS, Azure, Alibaba)
• Support thousands of hosts with reliable, efficient data handling at petabyte scale
• Own network issue troubleshooting and high availability across infrastructure
• Lead root-cause analyses and postmortems to drive improvements
• Reduce toil by building automation tools and workflows
• Share on-call responsibility for a global follow-the-sun rotation
