Job summary

Hunter New England Local Health District's John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, NSW, invites applications for a Staff Specialist in Geriatric Medicine. You will deliver high-quality inpatient, outpatient and community care for older people, working within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to teaching and service development.

Essential criteria include FRACP in Geriatric Medicine or nearing completion, and a commitment to clinical governance, research and high standards of patient‑centred

Qualifications

• FRACP in Geriatric Medicine or nearing completion.
• Demonstrate contemporary clinical expertise in older patients with complex needs.
• Experience in GEM units and rehabilitation programs is desirable.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage complex discharge planning.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality geriatric medicine services across inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide patient-centred care.
• Teach, supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees.
• Participate in clinical research, quality improvement and service development.
• Contribute to innovative models of care for healthy ageing.
