Job summary

Australiance seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Brisbane to join as 2IC to the Principal Geotechnical Engineer. This hands-on, technically demanding role combines design leadership with mentoring and active site involvement.

You'll lead geotechnical design across multiple projects, mentor 3–4 graduates, deliver IFC-quality reports, and earn a clear pathway to Principal within 1–2 years, with visa sponsorship available for the right international candidate.

Qualifications

• CPEng or RPEQ qualification required or eligible
• Approximately 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience with track record on infrastructure projects
• Strong design capability across foundations, retaining structures, slope stability and ground improvement
• Slope Risk Assessment to RMS Version 4 is a hard requirement
• Willingness to undertake site rotations of 1–3 weeks
• Eligible to work in Australia; visa sponsorship available for suitable international candidates

The Role

We're looking for a Strong Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the Brisbane team as 2IC to the Principal Geotechnical Engineer, with a clear, supported pathway into a Principal role within 1–2 years. This is a hands-on, technically demanding position combining detailed design leadership, mentoring of a developing team, and active site involvement. It's been scoped for someone ready to step up — not a typical Senior, but an engineer with the depth and judgement to operate at Associate Principal level.

In your first 12 months, you'll independently lead geotechnical design across multiple concurrent projects, mentor 3–4 graduate-to-mid-level engineers, deliver IFC-quality reports and drawings with minimal rework, and build credibility with clients and contractors on site.

What you'll need

• IEAust Chartered (CPEng) and/or RPEQ qualified


• ~15 years' geotechnical engineering experience, with a track record leading detailed design on infrastructure projects


• Strong design capability across foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, ground improvement and temporary works


• Slope Risk Assessment to RMS Version 4 (hard requirement)


• Willingness to undertake site rotations of 1–3 weeks


• Eligible to work in Australia — international candidates with the right technical fit will be considered, with visa sponsorship available
