Job summary

Evolution Mining, a premier gold company operating six mines across Australia and Canada, is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Northparkes Operations. You’ll lead geotechnical management for the E22 Block Cave Project and shape strategies that support safe underground development.

Based at Northparkes, you’ll report to the Principal Mining Engineer within the Major Projects team, guiding design, risk assessments and continuous improvement through advanced modelling and monitoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering.
• 8+ years' experience within underground hard rock mining environments.
• Practical and strong geotechnical engineering experience, ideally within underground mining, cave mining or block cave operations.
• Experience in geotechnical analysis, monitoring ground support design, excavation stability and geotechnical risk management.
• Capability using geotechnical modelling software with experience in calibration.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and operational stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Leading the geotechnical management and monitoring of the E22 Block Cave Project, ensuring safe and sustainable project outcomes.
• Shaping geotechnical strategies, delivering and optimising development design, massex chamber sequencing, cave performance, extraction level stability and ground support effectiveness.
• Providing expert technical guidance through advanced geotechnical analysis, numerical modelling and risk assessments.
• Influencing mine planning decisions through geotechnical recommendations, instructions and operational risk management.
• Driving continuous improvement by introducing innovative monitoring technologies, automation initiatives and industry leading geotechnical practices.

What’s the opportunity?

This is an opportunity to play a leading role in one of Australia's most exciting block cave developments. As our Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership across the E22 Block Cave Project, helping shape the geotechnical strategy that supports the safe and successful development of a major underground orebody.

Based at our Northparkes Operations and reporting to the Principal Mining Engineer, you’ll be part of the Major Projects execution team responsible for:

• Leading the geotechnical management and monitoring of the E22 Block Cave Project, ensuring safe and sustainable project outcomes
• Shaping geotechnical strategies, delivering and optimising development design, massex chamber sequencing, cave performance, extraction level stability and ground support effectiveness
• Providing expert technical guidance through advanced geotechnical analysis, numerical modelling and risk assessments
• Influencing mine planning decisions through geotechnical recommendations, instructions and operational risk management
• Driving continuous improvement by introducing innovative monitoring technologies, automation initiatives and industry leading geotechnical practices.

Does this sound like you?

• A Bachelor of Engineering in Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering.
• 8+ years' experience within underground hard rock mining environments.

Highly regarded:

• Experience with massex chamber design, vertical raise development, decline mining and rapid development mining
• Experience with cave establishment, cave propagation and cave performance monitoring.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status or eligibility
• Exposure with a large scale underground project environment
