Job summary

The Institute for Molecular Bioscience at the University of Queensland invites applications for a Principal Research Technician to support Prof. Loic Yengo’s Snow Fellowship Research Program at St Lucia. The role focuses on statistical genetics, large-scale biobank data analyses and pipeline development.

You will lead complex analyses, curate datasets with compliance, and supervise junior researchers while contributing to high-impact publications and collaborations.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualifications in Genetics or Genomics with subsequent experience in statistical genetics and biobank data analysis.
• Expertise across the research cycle: data quality control, software benchmarking, reporting and publication preparation.
• Leadership capability to supervise, train and develop junior staff and foster a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable statistical genetics and bioinformatics pipelines for large-scale genomic datasets.
• Provide expert technical input and contribute to research methods and protocols.
• Curate research datasets and ensure compliant data access and ethics approvals.
• Supervise and develop junior researchers and technicians, contributing to outputs and collaborations.
