Job summary

Metro South Health Service is seeking a Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist in Gastroenterology at Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital. The role focuses on managing complex GI conditions, providing inpatient/outpatient care and leading multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.

The position requires specialist qualifications in Gastroenterology, advanced endoscopy skills (including balloon enteroscopy, ERCP, EUS) and involvement in audits, research and education to strengthen

Qualifications

• Specialist qualifications in Gastroenterology acceptable to the Medical Board of Australia and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
• Advanced expertise in managing small bowel disorders and balloon enteroscopy, with expertise in inflammatory bowel disease and/or procedural skills in ERCP, EUS and small bowel balloon enteroscopy.
• Current active certificate of recognition from the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, with an approved Scope of Clinical Practice appropriate to the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist inpatient and outpatient care, consultations and procedural support, drawing on gastroenterology expertise.
• Contribute to clinical leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration and supervision/education of junior medical staff.
• Lead and participate in clinical audits, research, quality improvement and initiatives enhancing patient safety and service delivery.
• Support service planning, clinical governance and ongoing development of gastroenterology services.
