Job summary

SyncTech in Australia is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join a small, focused engineering team. You'll work across our React frontend and Node services—GraphQL BFF and NestJS REST APIs—to build the core platform, with a focus on our 2026 AI damage detection initiatives.

This is a hands‑on role where you write production code daily, contribute to architecture decisions, and collaborate with product and operations to solve real problems for insurers, builders and assessors.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production systems in React, Node and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and evolving GraphQL and REST APIs.
• PostgreSQL, or another relational database used in production.
• AWS or another major cloud, provisioned with infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• CI/CD pipelines you have built or maintained, not just used.
• Clear written and verbal communication, in code reviews as much as in meetings.
• Authored or led an architecture decision in the last 12 months.
• Carried a production on-call rotation.
• Mentored at least one mid-level engineer.

Responsibilities

• Work with product, sales and operations to understand the problem and the outcome needed, then ship the smallest change that moves towards that outcome, and iterate
• Help deliver 2026 and 2027 AI initiatives, including computer vision pipelines for property damage detection
• Understand the platform's limits and drive the work that keeps it fast and reliable as data volumes and customer load scale
• Uphold and improve the high bar for quality across the codebase through knowledge sharing, tests and code review
• Ship with Claude Code daily as writing assistance, while owning authorship: the code you merge is yours to understand, defend and maintain

About the role

We're looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to join a small, focused engineering team. You'll work across our React frontend and Node services - a GraphQL BFF and NestJS REST APIs - to build and improve the core platform, with a particular focus on our 2026 AI damage detection initiatives. This is a hands‑on role. You'll write production code every day, contribute to architecture decisions, and work directly with the product and operations teams to solve real problems for our customers.

Key responsibilities

Production code shipped with LLM coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or equivalent) while keeping code ownership: you can explain, defend and maintain every line you merged

5+ years building production systems in React, Node and TypeScript

Experience designing and evolving GraphQL and REST APIs

PostgreSQL, or another relational database used in production

AWS or another major cloud, provisioned with infrastructure as code (Terraform)

CI/CD pipelines you have built or maintained, not just used

Clear written and verbal communication, in code review as much as in meetings

Authored or led an architecture decision in the last 12 months

Carried a production on‑call rotation

Mentored at least one mid‑level engineer
