Job summary

The HR Ally is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable web applications from the Sydney, NSW office. You will work across React.js/Next.js on the front end and Java/Python on the back end, delivering robust REST APIs and secure cloud deployments.

You will participate in Agile ceremonies, contribute to architecture decisions, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring high code quality and efficient CI/CD pipelines in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• 7-12 years of professional software engineering experience in a full-stack capacity.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Python.
• Strong hands-on experience with React.js and Next.js.
• Proven experience designing and building REST APIs.
• Practical experience with Git/GitHub in a collaborative development environment.
• Experience with Agile delivery practices (Scrum/Kanban).
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as Playwright, Jest, Cypress, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).
• Exposure to containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Prior experience in a senior or lead engineering capacity.
• Experience in regulated or enterprise-scale environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications using React.js and Next.js on the front end, and Java and Python on the back end.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
• Contribute to architecture and design decisions across the front-end and back-end stack.
• Develop and maintain automated test suites using frameworks such as Playwright, Jest, or Cypress.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines to support frequent, reliable releases.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimise applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Participate fully in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and collaborate closely with Product, Design, and QA.
• Use Git/GitHub for source control, code review, and collaborative development.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues across the stack.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and code quality standards.
