Job summary

Shift is expanding its engineering team in Australia and seeks a Senior Full Stack Engineer who will split time between front-end and back-end work. You’ll design user-friendly interfaces with React/TypeScript and build robust services in C#/.NET, ensuring quality across client and server sides.

You’ll collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver cohesive experiences, contribute to architectural decisions, and uphold best practices throughout the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production software with both front-end and back-end
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript and React experience
• Backend services with C#/.NET and RESTful APIs

Responsibilities

About the Role:

We're growing our engineering team and looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who excels at both front-end and back-end development. In this role, you'll split your focus evenly creating intuitive user experiences and building robust back-end systems. You enjoy working across the stack, ensuring quality and performance in both the client and server sides. What you’ll do:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable front-end applications in JavaScript/TypeScript (React)
• Develop, enhance, and maintain backend services in C# (.NET)
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver cohesive user experiences
• Play a key role in architectural decisions, ensuring consistency and best practices across the full stack
• Drive code quality, testing, accessibility, and continuous improvement throughout the software lifecycle
• Write maintainable, testable code that performs reliably in production
• Support integration with both RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices

What you’ll bring:

• 6+ years building production software with substantial experience in both front-end and back-end development (React and .NET)
• Advanced skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, React (or similar frameworks), and front-end architecture
• Strong, hands-on experience with backend services using C# and .NET
• Proficiency working with RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures
• Hands-on experience with Azure or similar cloud platforms
• Familiarity with DevOps tooling such as GitHub Actions, TeamCity, or Octopus
• Passion for intuitive, accessible, and reliable applications across the stack
• Excellent testing skills and a commitment to high-quality delivery
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities within cross-functional teams
• A curious mindset, energized by solving complex challenges in a dynamic environment
