Responsibilities

• Design and build intelligent agent workflows, conversational flows, and generative AI features using Dialogflow CX, Vertex AI, AgentStudio, and advanced prompt/context engineering techniques.
• Develop high-performance, responsive UIs with React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, and Storybook; use WebSockets for real-time streaming.
• Build and maintain scalable backend services and API layers (Node.js/TypeScript, Java, Apigee) to support secure, low-latency communication with AI model providers.
• Implement robust evaluation, testing, and monitoring frameworks for AI-enabled features focusing on accuracy, latency, guardrails, and prompt regression.
• Collaborate with product managers, AI architects, UX designers, and platform engineers to deliver secure, production-ready AI capabilities at enterprise scale.

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer specializing in AI and Conversational Systems to join our engineering organization in Sydney.

In this hands-on role, you will design, build, and operate production-grade conversational interfaces and generative AI features—including AI Coach solutions, real-time CoPilot streaming experiences, and intelligent agent workflows. You will bridge advanced AI tooling (Vertex AI, Dialogflow CX, AgentStudio) with modern frontend and backend architectures (React, WebSockets, Node.js, Java) while applying rigorous engineering practices to handle non-deterministic model behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

Conversational & Generative AI Development: Design and build intelligent agent workflows, conversational flows, and generative AI features using Dialogflow CX, Vertex AI, AgentStudio, and advanced prompt/context engineering techniques.

Real-Time AI Frontend Engineering: Develop high-performance, responsive user interfaces using React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, and Storybook, integrating WebSockets for real-time conversational and CoPilot streaming capabilities.

Backend & API Integration: Build and maintain scalable backend services and API layers (Node.js/TypeScript, Java, Apigee) to support secure, low-latency communication between front-end applications and AI model providers.

AI Quality & Testing Engineering: Implement robust evaluation, testing, and monitoring frameworks for AI-enabled features—focusing on accuracy, response latency, guardrails, prompt regression, and handling non-deterministic model behaviour.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, AI architects, UX designers, and platform engineers to deliver secure, production-ready AI capabilities at enterprise scale.

Production AI Experience: Demonstrated track record of building and operating conversational or generative AI features in live production environments.

Conversational & LLM Platforms: Hands-on experience with at least one major conversational AI platform (e.g., Dialogflow CX) and one major LLM/ML platform (e.g., Vertex AI).

Full Stack Core Stack: Deep production experience across React, Node.js/TypeScript, and Java, alongside real-time communication protocols like WebSockets.

AI Evaluation & Testing: Proven capability in evaluating and testing AI-enabled features rather than only traditional deterministic code (measuring model accuracy, latency, guardrails, and prompt regression).

Location: Sydney-based (or willing to work hybrid in Sydney) with full Australian working rights.

Experience working with agentic frameworks, prompt/context optimization patterns, or specialized UI component libraries for AI apps.

Familiarity with secure enterprise API gateways (Apigee) and cloud-native deployment patterns on Google Cloud Platform.
