Tanner Menzies Pty is seeking an experienced FMCG Food Technologist to lead and mentor the NPD team in Beresfield, NSW. The role requires on-site presence five days a week and a track record in taking customer concepts through to commercialisation.

You will manage technical aspects across a broad portfolio, contribute to a 2+ year innovation pipeline, and work closely with suppliers to develop strong NPD concepts and launches.

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Science or related discipline.
• Proven track record in product development within FMCG.
• Experience leading NPD projects and cross-functional teams.

They now have an exciting career opportunity for an experienced FMCG Food Technologist ready to step up, or a current Senior Food Technologist, ready to move into a new category. Role is located in Beresfield (north of Newcastle).

The Role – Located in Beresfield, NSW

Reporting to the NPD Commercial Manager, you will be required to be on site 5 days a week but there is flexibility with start and finish times. Key to this role is the ability to lead and mentor less experienced team members.

Your responsibilities include the following:

• This role will be the most senior Food Technologist onsite
• Ensure projects follow the NPD Stage Gate Process to ensure key metrics are achieved
• Provide technical expertise across the portfolio
• Take customer concepts through to commercialisation and launch
• Manage and provide leadership on technical aspects of projects
• Commercialise a portfolio of +65 NPD projects per year
• Participation in the development of a 2+ year strategic innovation pipeline, with the brand and customer teams, across branded and private label products
• Hold annual innovation sessions with key suppliers to ensure the joint development of a strong NPD pipeline
• Assist the company to improve in the areas of Safety, Environmental, Quality and Compliance

About You

We seek candidates with the following skills and experience:

• Project leadership - to effectively lead from the front and support the NPD team
• The desire and aptitude to be developed for a managerial role in the near future. Current or previous managerial experience will be highly regarded
• Process management – develop, manage and follow process with a keen eye for detail
• Technical Skills – a current understanding of required food & quality standards and legislation to commercialise new products
• Effective negotiation, decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Highly developed presentation skills
• Excellent organisation skills – ability to manage diversity of projects
• Planning and innovation, business acumen and effective communication skills
• Organisational agility and the ability to work closely with key suppliers on innovation workshops, from paper concepts through to launch
• Experience in FMCG Food industry a must
• Currently on a Visa and wishing to work regionally to speed up the PR process
• A degree in Food Science or a related discipline
• A proven track record in a Product Development role in a similar field
