Job summary

CASA is seeking a Senior Flying Operations Inspector (FO2) to join the Aviation Technical Workforce. The role involves exercising delegated decision making on regulatory services, and collaborating with colleagues to deliver compliance and safety outcomes.

The ideal candidate has strong aviation knowledge, regulatory assessment skills, and experience coaching examiners. The FO2 will engage with industry stakeholders, prepare high-quality reports, and contribute to ongoing safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently under guidance from managers in accordance with established regulatory practices.
• Ability to exercise initiative, analysis, problem solving, judgement, and decision-making and apply technical knowledge on matters where standards, policies and procedures may or may not cover the circumstances.
• Developed negotiation, facilitation, influencing and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Demonstrated ability to actively engage in effective stakeholder management, including with regulated entities.
• Understanding of aviation industry, civil aviation legislation, and relevant national and international aviation standards.

Responsibilities

• Exercise decision making, including as a delegate, on routine regulatory service and surveillance activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues, share knowledge and manage personal performance.
• Participate in work programs delivering approvals, compliance assurance and reporting.
• Provide advice and technical guidance to regulated entities and the public.
• Conduct oversight and education of industry examiners and proficiency checks.
